Lauren Waag, MSW, LSW
I work with teens to accept their current process, whatever that looks like for them, and build skills to grow from the experience and move onwards. and upwards
I do my best work with teens who are struggling to manage everyday stressors including school, college applications, extracurricular activities, etc. I enjoy working with adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, body image issues and/or eating disorders.
As a therapist I hope to provide hope and healing to all those I work with, including their families. Adolescence is an incredibly stressful time with lots of change and many big life events happening.
• I have a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health
• I have a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a minor in Spanish from Providence College.
• I pursue additional education each year in areas of interest such as social justice, treatment of eating disorders, treatment of marginalized communities, LGBTQIA mental health, and much more!
• Prior experience includes working in a behavioral school, an adolescent psychiatric hospital, and a forensics facility.
I love working with teens to...
build skills to help themselves using a blended approach from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. My goal is to promote growth and healing through the therapeutic process. I love incorporating family into treatment to find ways to best support the teen through family sessions as needed while balancing the privacy and respect that teens deserve in mental health treatment.
When I'm not working with clients...
I am outdoors either hiking, camping, or skiing. I also love spending time with my black lab puppy or my cat Snickers and friends. During COVID quarantine I also fell into providing mental health support and education on TikTok and building a large community there which has been lots of fun.
