Our team of teen counseling specialists wants to help!  Join us for our Fall Lecture Series to learn valuable tips, insights, ideas and strategies for enjoying a better relationship with your teenager.

Toddlers vs Teenagers: Understanding the Teenage Brain

What will you learn?

 

SOME BASIC BIOLOGY What is going on in the brain during the teen years?  How does this affect learning, growth, behavior and mental health?

SETTING BOUNDARIES Learn tips for how to provide appropriate privileges, how to respond when your teen messes up, and how to set effective limits without fighting all the time.

FOCUS ON RAISING AN ADULT Reflect on the purpose behind your rules and limits.  What kind of adult are you hoping to raise?  Do your rules reflect that?

IMPROVE COMMUNICATION Talk with your teen about their world without fighting or creating a power struggle.  Learn to engage in their life, and share your own, in healthy ways that promote a stronger relationship.

LEARN TO SPOT RED FLAGS How much is too much screen time? What if you suspect your teen is engaging is risky behavior? How to keep teens safe online.

IMPROVE COMMUNICATION Talk with your teen about their online world without fighting or creating a power struggle.  Learn to engage in their social media life in healthy ways that promote a stronger relationship.

MANAGING DIFFICULT EMOTIONS Be honest with how you're feeling and how these situations are affecting you as a parent.

BE HONEST WITHOUT BEING ALARMING Support your teen through tragedy without making false promises or empty "it will be fine" comments.
